|

Thanks in advance for any advice.
I have a PGCE in Secondary English, 2 years experience in an English High School and 3 years experience teaching ESL, most recently in Sydney, Australia. Aside from teaching English in an international school (most request recent high school experience which I don't possess, having last taught high school 2 years ago) what options would be open to me-private language schools etc- as a teacher in Dubai? Also, is there anything I can do to enhance my chances of employment as I don't actually plan to be in Dubai until 2008/9.
Thanks again. |

Nope, I don't have any celta qualifications and I'm a bit reluctant to pay for one, although if it makes an appreciable difference in Dubai I would do it. |

Ruthie: Best time to apply would be next january-march...keep you eyes on the jobs fairs. Contact schools you are interested in beforehand so that they can arrange to interview you at the fair. W/ a PGCE and some experience, there are many schools that would snap you up. |

I think you are being unduly pessimistic if you think that a 2 or 3 year break from teaching means your experience is not recent - and as you are planning to come here in 2008 then you have time to hone that c.v. and make whatever you have been doing since you stopped teaching in a secondary school look logical and beneficial.
If you really want to teach in a language school rather than an international secondary school then the CELTA or similar is a good idea - add that to your PGCE and better jobs will be accessible. |
