Does anybody know the best and worst schools to teach in in Salamanca? A friend recently was offered 8 euros an hour at a school there. Is this type of low wage normal for this area? Is the cost of living so much lower than nearby Madrid? Many thanks. |

The 8 Euros an hour rate sounds low.
Salamanca is cheaper to live in than Madrid but not almost 50% cheaper. Our experience to-date is that in Madrid you can earn 15 to 18 Euros an hour working as an entry level teacher in a language school.

Can definitely second Jim there: people here are asking for, and getting from 16 euros an hour (no experience) to 20 an hour (with experience) on arrival here through academies, and I don't know anyone here who gets out of bed for less than 20 to 25 an hour for privates.
Might it possibly be better for you to live in Madrid and zoom over to Salamanca on the weekends? |
