Hi

I used to teach in Dubai, and I loved it.

I'm afraid I may be in for a big shock by going to Riyadh after the luxury of Dubai.

If there is anyone who's taught there before, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I daresay some might prefer relatively downmarket Riyadh to the dubious 'luxury of Dubai'. As a UAE resident such excess in the midst of labour camp and other variants of poverty has seemed more shocking than almost anything I can imagine.

Dubai has not cornered the market on slavery. There is plenty of it in Saudi as well.

S for slavery!

Labor slavery is everywhere, from Oman to KSA, it is a mater of scale.
To be fair in our judgments to the Gulf countries, also we may say that there is modern slavery, in which migrant workers in UK and USA are ill-treated as well!

This is the 21st Century of Uncles Sam and Tony.

No one said it had. The point is, the juxtaposition of luxury/penury is more evident in Dubai, and this is all I was saying.
