Remember, they are chinese and it is part of their business plan to cheat you as much as they can. |
Maan, that is such a blatant generalization. And so bloody true.
I had a student tell me the other day that China is such a superior country because "it has 5,000 years of cultural development."
Gee... I wanted to cut slits in my pants so I could crap on her head. Right there, in public, on the sidewalk. |

Why stay if you are totally board and not accomplisihing anything?
Give them notice, hope they don't cheat you too much and be happier somewhere else. |
Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do.
Interestingly, there are only three teachers at this school. This week, the other two QUIT. Seriously. One for health reasons, another because he's a psycho, but...
I got a call yesterday from my school. I guess they assumed I didn't know anything, because they did't mention the psycho's departure, and told me that the other fellow was "going to be in the hospital for a few days". In truth, he went back to England.
Anyway, they called me up, told me I was their "best teacher", and that they'd like me to come in today (on my day off) to "give special lesson" to "students who will love me." After that class, they wanted to take me out for dinner to "show me their love" (ewww).
I told them to ask psycho to teach the class, as he was scheduled for work anyway. They told me psycho would be busy on a "special assignment".
I told them that they were lying to me for no reason, and then revealed what I knew about psycho and sickboy. The director's response was that I have a bad attitude. I guess dinner's off...
I'm gonna cut slits in my pants and crap on her desk. |

This thread is starting to get funny - especially when you take the subject of culture and line it up against the reputation of Aston's.

No need to crap on her head - just ask her if she's the product of such a superior cultural heritage, then why does she attend a school that advertises this cultural gem of an activity on their website -

KFC and Dongying Aston a perfect partnership
The Dongying Aston School has been working in conjunction with KFC to give back to the community through our weekly English corners. They have been a great success usually having 60-80 enthused participants attend each week. The English corners have provided a wonderful opportunity for the people of Dongying to meet the Aston foreign teachers and engage in culture exchange. KFC has been so pleased with our partnership they have insisted that the Aston school extend there English corners to all three of their locations.
Everyone in the community is welcomed to take part in the Aston English Corner. They are held every Saturday night from 7pm-8pm. Come and have fun at KFC with some truly special people, and if you are lucky you might even become the winner of our special door prize. |
PAzine - has the Aston's/KFC craze reached Taiyuan yet - have you been issued with the regulation chicken costume (as specified in rule 461, paragraph 15, subsection 7 of the official handbook for Aston management)
Warning newbies - a stint at one of these culturally elite learning centers may lead to phobias associated with deep-fat fried food but regardless of that, what a way to spend a Saturday evening |

Deary me those mill management teams - and somebody in another thread was suggesting PAzine's frustration with Aston was just a case of boredom - looks like we've arrived at that part of storyline where the honeymoon turns into a nightmare!!!!!
Hey, Pazine, out of curiosity - on the Aston site - we have this comment about the Taiyuan school -
| Quote: |
| We have both Western and Chinese management staff and a dedicated and professional team of teachers in our classrooms. Collectively we number 15 staff in total. |
Were psycho and sickboy the promised western half of the management machine - is there any "western" in the management???? One of the only reasons to work at a mill like Aston's Taiyuan outlet is to have a western DOS who can argue the case of the FT's and be able to give info without the "oriental frills"!!!
Newbies - if you find out the mill you're interested advertises some western management (DOS), but aint got none - beware big time. |

A new language centre has opened up in my town and out of curiousity, I called them and was amazed, they were offering 80 RMB an hour in a town where they admitted 200RMB is the norm.
I would be interested to know if any FTs would apply for the positions and why. The word scabs comes to mind.
Panzine I think you are doing the right thing giving them notice and the rest of it but with 10 years under your belt you could do a lot better.
Nine months looking at a dumpster? Life is too short.
I love that line," you are our best teacher" You are their only teacher.
Best of luck |
