Hi JP!
I do agree that your presence can spur other teachers to produce better results, but it's important not to underestimate the importance attached to native speakers. 'Raising your level' to that level is impossible, the parents know it, and would even value it ABOVE other qualities, like professionalism.
There is one area where a native speaker has trouble competing though - preparing young people to enter the institutes and VUZes. The entrance exams are based on the standard approach of the public shool English lessons (with Vereshagina et al), and the preparing tutor/instructor should be thoroughly familiar with how the public system works to help the teen get past the VUZ entrance exams.
BTW, you can use the quote function on others' comments - it's better than bolding (emboldening? ) them. |
