It is possible to get full-time work on a WHV - I looked and found a number of smaller schools willing to put my partner on full-time. From my Nova interview, the recruiter also implied many people work part-time but get as much overtime as they want on WHVs. |

Small schools sometime do it. You're only supposed to work 20 hours a week. Nova does it by putting you on a part-time contract but they say you can work overtime. Some people think it's better than the full-time deal.
Some small schools will bend the rules, but it's not "legal." |

I think they raised the qualification age of the WHV to 40 (might be wrong about that) |
Not for Canadians. |

Oh, no, no. Quite the opposite. I really wish there *was* a lot more quality study being done in the area.
I just happen to think that the field (my comment was mainly directed at the academic area) is pretty much a joke if it ever wants to claim to be an actual discipline. . . .
IMO the quality of teaching and research is awful in the vast majority of places. Over the years I've formed the distinct opinion that it is a bit of a haven for people that couldn't hack it in real disciplines.
All of which is rather depressing for the places and people that are genuinely serious about it all.
YMMV |
Other than a (small) possible quibble, or two--I heartily agree.
To say more, might completely divert this thread.
So . . . enough said for now. |

No degree ? Hmmm. I'd say that if your SO is fairly young
and physically attractive, that there may be an opportunity
if you or your SO are able to establish a personal relationship
with the right person. In Japan the personal relationship
is everything, laws and regulations a weak suggestion
relatively. |
