i don't get it.

Taken out of context, maybe it is a little obscure. The school boss is showing a Government Inspector around the school. The inspector's face is that of the current Education Minister. The fact that he is blindfolded, and that the words "BRIBE TARIFF" are stamped across the Labour Ministry logo on his falling pocket book should speak for themselves. OK?

In my five years so far in Turkey, I've never actually ever had to deal with these inspections- none of that herding the yabancilar out the door or hiding them in the cupboards or whatever. Are these inspections fairly low key? Is it possible to not actually notice them? Do they only happen in certain schools? Seriously, I keep hearing about them on this forum but can't for the life of myself understand why I have yet to witness such a key and pivotal aspect of the foreigner's life in Istanbul.

Mind you, taxi drivers don't harass me, I've never been robbed, I've never been ripped off by a school, and I have always had an ikamet.

Anything else I've missed out on?

The inspectors are real. I remember once having to remove walls of a classroom because the plans only had one room not the two which had been constructed. I know of people being told to take the day off the work because they were coming. Yaramaz, you have always been legal that's why you dont know about them.

The fact that the earthquake happened 3 years before I arrived might explain why I didn't experience it. Funny that.
