Hey there:

Yeah, it looks like returning to U.S. is necessary per sneaky sentence on consulate site:

�Residence visas for the purpose of carrying out work are issued only by the Polish Consul at the office appropriate for the applicant's legal permanent residence��

There�s some more info at this link.

Anyone know how long it generally takes between getting hired at a school and the processing/availability of work visa?
