Oh stop being silly. Just because certain crappy things haven't happened to me here doesn't mean I'm in some sort of insulated bubble. I just haven't experienced them. Shall I go out to get ripped off/mugged/harrassed just to prove that I'm really here? Shall I hand in my ikamet to prove that I'm a genuine exploited and underpaid yabanci? Shall I slag off my decent employers even though i've had no problems so far just because I'm supposed to assume that everyone is out to get me? Shall I go back in time so I can experience an earthquake firsthand?

Does your 20-years-younger masters student fiancee mind the fact that she's marrying a guy who still apparently works for a crappy, exploitive language school, with no career prospects aside from a comic book that he uses to put down everyone he doesn't agree with?

the cocooned against reality comment could have to do with the whole surfing on a dragonfly thing. i would recommend that you knock on a lot of wood this weekend after setting yourself up for a jinx like that but, in the end, the dragonfly will probably keep you safe.

I have been knocking on wood for years, and ending all my comments like the above with 'so far'. It's worked so far, knock on wood.

Actually, I was mugged in Bulgaria last year. Maybe that acted as a karmic balance.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing the first issue of Yalankur. So far, from the few bits I have seen here, I've got a feeling that it could be quite entertaining. I think Baba Alex is being jealous, because whatever he claims to be, he hasn't got the slightest bit of the creativity that Medracer has. I don't know about Baba Alex's music career, but I would recommend him to improve his spelling if he wanted to advance in his journalistic career. Actually, I sometimes find the hijacking of some threads here with irrelevant in-jokes by Baba Alex and pompous sounding Yaramaz quite annoying.

Good luck and all the best in your venture and in your private life, Medracer.

PS. I don't understand why some people are so jealous about the creativity of other people in Turkey. I myself thinking of making a film in Istanbul. (I have some experience in Network TV, albeit as a film editor) and would like to meet other people who have simillar ibackground or interest.

Now then now then now then. Because I critisise someone's "art", I must automatically be jelous? That's such a cliched argument.

You haven't actualy read any of my work, have you? Buy BANT, available in selected magazine stores.

I've never been jealous about other's creativity in Istanbul, I'm infact a strong supporter of the underground music scene here, and regularly write about small bands trying to get them a bigger audience. It's one of my passions. Ask anyone who knows me properly about how excited I get when someone does something creative and independant. As for my own music, some people don't get it some people do, I'm open to citisism. If you put strange stuff out there, you have to expect it.

Good luck with your film project, there's plenty of stuff going on in this city if you know where to look.

Do you always make such huge generalısed assumptions about people you don't know and have never met, or do you just leave it for the anonymous safety of an internet forum?

These things may not have happened to me but it doesn't mean I am unaware of what's going on around me. I appreciate your obsession with what I say though. Makes me feel special. Haven't had a specially created comic made about me before. Work on accuracy next time, rather than inane speculation.
