After talking to a school, they told me that I will need to provide a Criminal Record Check to them. My mom is back in the states and offered to get it for me, but doesn't know where to get it, and neither do I! I've Googled a million different names and words as well as did a search on here and maybe I am going about this wrong, but I can't find anything! I'm from Ohio and have tried to go to all of the State of Ohio websites but all I was taken to the department of Rehabilitation and Correction and to a sex offender search site...Ack! Not all what I am looking for!! So here are my questions:

1. What is the official name of this document?

2. Where do you need to go to obtain such a document. Well, what I am trying to ask is will my mom need to go to our Town/City Hall to get it, or will she have to go to a specific department?

3. Does it need to be recognized by a TECO? Will the school take care of that?

Called the U.S. Consulate and they cleared it up. They told me that if it is for a state one then all I need to do is go to my hometown's police station, but if it is a national then I need to go to the F.B.I.

Have any of you ever had to do such a thing??

So now I am wondering, do these schools want a statewide or a national background check?

Do they still need to be recognized by a TECO?

You would think after four years of dealing with endless steams of bureaucratic crap here in Holland that I'd be used to this, but I guess one never gets used to it do they?
