My husband is a computer programmer (computer security/banks/treasury), in the USA he also has worked at the computer company but he is very overqualified for this job. And very underpaid:((( We do not have a green card. We cannot stay in the USA forever.
Is it realistic to find a job for him in Al-Khobar? It makes no sense for us to go there only to get one my salary. We will have too many expenses. Besides, American $ value goes down in my country incredibly. I mean, the quantity of our currency for $1 is the same, but the prices on real estate went high 15-20 times in $ value for the last 5 years. It makes no sense spare that money if you cannot buy for it.
I bought an apartment for $2,500 in 2001, now it's $30,000.
Is it safe in Al-Khobar? How does all life there look like? Can my daughter of 12 years go to school alone? |

Nobody is guaranteed to stay forever in any country, regardless if they hold a green card, red card, or uncle Sams passport!
BTW, there is a big chance that your husband may find a job in his field of computer/programming in SA, but the contract will be with local terms.

Yes, it is safer than any street in any American city.
Life in KSA is like any life at any other city in the world, except that the culture is different.

Some government schools provide free bus transport to pupils (boys and girls).
Also, the private schools provide their own transport for their pupils.
Alternatively, if your husband is planning to buy a car, he can take his daughter to school. |

I don't know which American city you are from, but nobody steals people or their wallets on Pennsylvania Avenue:))) I have spent a few years in Washington, DC.
Comparatively to many places in the world it is very safe. Of course, it may be the high target area for terrorists potentially in the future, but in terms of criminals rather safe and clean.
The green card guarantees that you can always return:))) You can live whereever you want, but you can return. As soon as we have left the States that door will be closed forever for us.
With American passport you do not need to prove at the embassies of Poland or any other poor country that you are just a visitor, not the potential immigrant:))) Which is ridiculous, actually.
I do not live in Alabama now:))) I live in front of the Washington National Cathedral:))) And consider this place rather nice.
My husband wants to use all the opportunities of staying in the USA, but I don't know, still thinking... |

I have travelled a lot. I am sorry, Alabama is very different from Arlington, VA:)))
Missouri is very different from NY:)))
Some neighborhoods along the Green line of DC metro are very different from nice paths in Jamestown:(((((((((
Moreover, quantity of security guards and metal detectors available in Holocaust Museum in DC is not provided everywhere you may need.
Public schools in Washington, DC are also very different: some of them look like prisons, some as museums or theatres. |
