The little things...
Being able to sit (or loll) in a hammock in my garden at night with a glass of wine, watching the fireflies dance
Having a garden is probably the biggest "little thing" I have. |

(China)
Reliable and cheap public transport (unheard of in UK.)
Street vendors that serve yummy food for only a few pence.
The custom of bringing fresh fruit every time you go to visit someone. |

Great pics Kent...
For me in Mexico...
That time is fluid...that jacarandas smell like purple chocolate in spring...that there are two oceans within easy reach... |

I've been following this thread and now I'm really depressed. I honestly can't thing of any little things I like about living in Bucharest! Big things, sure - bought a flat here (no way could I have afforded one in the UK) and my income allows me luxuries, travels and savings. But little charming things....I really can't think of much.
You lucky lucky b*****ds! |

I am like Denise, the ability to continue horse-riding is always a huge bonus. Still working on affording the new car though.
Living alone is a big deal for me as I am not a great sleeper, easily disturbed, and I like my own space.
Climate doesn't bother me hugely but I am not sure I could put up with some of the restrictions (such as dress) some people face in places like the middle east.

For myself in Japan.
My job is wonderful. I have NEVER had a single bad student EVER. 99% of my students are smiling, enthusiastic 19 year olds. I appreciate how lucky I am.
A salary that I am not embarrassed about revealing to friends back home. I have friends who actually think that TEFL is a well paid career.
I can walk through the city centre at any time of night and feel safe.
I have almost never seen aggressive behaviour of any kind.
I look forward to spring the way I used to look forward to xmas. Japan really is magical for 2 weeks in April.
In 4 weeks I have a 11 week vacation.
In Jan I have a 11 week vacation.
Wild monkeys live 30 minutes from where I live and I live in the centre of a 4million peopled city.
When I was single I was popular with the local ladies.
The local boys didn't mind.
The trains are so good that there really is no need to have a car.
Cycling around town is very safe.
I can eat out any time I want for quite a reasonable cost. At least compared to England.
I have a 40 minute jogging course around my apartment that I absolutely love.
Hmmm think I got a bit carried away. |

I remember! Japan was a mixed experience for me, but it certainly was beautiful with all those blossoms.
And my town covered in a few feet of snow... So peaceful. Aaaaaah, the memories! |
