hey all,
does anyone know if it is at all possible to teach in Japan, Korea or Taiwan without a degree? My fiance doesnt have one and I do and we are both dead keen to teach ESL in any of the above mentioned countries.. what is our best option?

My understanding is that all three places you mentioned require a bachelor's degree in something (it doesn't have to be education or English). I know Japan does for sure.
You may be able to find something in China that doesn't require a degree, especially if you have some sort of experience or a TEFL cert of some sort. |

A degree is necessary for all 3 countries mentioned. However, your boyfriend, I assume it is a he from your moniker, may be eligible for a working holiday visa where he could work p/t in Japan. Maybe you're a man, not sure as we have a guy here named sweetsee. |

Korea and Taiwan require degrees. Japan - has its exceptions.
Anyone thinking about a long-term EFL experience/career - needs to get a degree ASAP if not sooner. Not so much a problem for shorter term in Indonesia, much of South and Central America, non-urban China, and few other places. |
