so *beep* the agencies. And most agencies make from 50 to 150 yuan per hour for YOUR volonterering.... If you REALLY want to pass by an agency, I can hook you up with an American buddy who has an agency with a Chinese business partner, he places volonteers in the country side.... but... trust TW I say!

Ok so lets review what I wrote, I put it in Bold BTW Wink "If you really" Meaning, if it makes you feel safer to pass by an agency that could help you around and not make money on your back cause your not sure if you want to trust a dude on a forum. But it would have been long for nothing to write this, I think he understood without me having to tell him Smile
"Trust TW I say" Meaning, yeah I have a buddy, but I did say F-U-C-K agencies, even if he is my buddy, he knows that myself like many others don't trust agencies and hate them for either having been screwed over already or knowing other foreigners who have been screwed over, but that doesn't make him less my buddy.

Oh please.. The only thing that is clear is the hypocracy of you suggesting to people to stear clear of agencies accept for when it profits your friend.. (I'm not talking about TWs kind offer)

If it was my original goal, I would have posted his name and e-mail or website, which clearly I did not. But like all other trolls on this forum, all you want is to creat arguments, so I'm not going to push it.

By all means lumberjackej good luck for you volonteering Smile

The latest ESL scheme is to PAY to come teach free in China.

A couple of these are in operation right now and at many of the US universities they will post local job offers to get students that just graduated to do the "Travel and Teach" thing.

Some of these are operated by Chinese students in the USA looking for some extra income. They will get teachers for free and GET PAID to provide the teachers. Some get a kick-back for being an agent that can talk potential teachers into coming to China for free.

Usually, you pay a few thousand dollars. You get a contract (no or super low pay) free housing and upon completion of the contract you get a lump some or airline ticket back home.

This is the same thing most of us get but we get paid for our teaching.

Expect this situation of free teachers to get worse prior towards the Olympics. "Free Room and Board to party during the Olympics." You cannot beat that can you?

I feel this trend and the influx of religious based teachers is the reason Beijing teaching salaries are stagnant and will not get much better.

It cannot get any worse than having teachers paying for the chance to work for free. It will not be too long before "free teaching" is expected from the rest of us.

Now, are they qualified? That's another thread and is a matter that can be debated.
