Just wondering if anyone can recommend a private Spanish teacher here in Santiago. I did a search on the internet, and there seems to be almost as many Spanish institutes as English ones, however, they are all pricey because they are geared towards tourists.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out with this. I have been in Santiago for almost two years now, and frankly it is embarrasing that I haven't picked up more Spanish than I have.

I know is board is slow, but with 33 views I would think that someone must be studying Spanish while teaching....or not?

My husband is in the same boat as you - hes been here for just over two years and is also starting to think that classes might just be necessary. He has kind of narrowed it down to Woodward, who charge around $6,000 the hour, but is also thinking of maybe getting a couple of people together and then hiring a teacher outside of an institute. Interested? |

Chini:
I am interested. The classes outside a school sounds like a good idea, my only concern is that, seeing that English teachers odd hours, it might be difficult to align schedules. But lets try and see.

Did you guys ever succeed in finding a good affordable Spanish teacher? I could use lessons myself. |

We havent had much luck finding a decent teacher yet. But ask Chini more about it...she is the master mind.

Hi Everyone,
Ive here in Chile for a week now. Im teaching English, and know very basic Spanish. Im in the city of Catemu and would definitely be interested in getting together for Spanish lessons. It might be difficult if people are in different areas, how about some online training. Maybe we can get into a forum and learn over the internet. It wont be as good as in person, but maybe better than nothing. |

That is a great idea, but not something I would be keen on. I have self studied a lot, so my understanding and reading are pretty good. What I am hoping for is a conversation class that also reinforces grammar. But then I am only speaking for myself.
