I am considering taking a TEFL course in Prague then hope to teach in Slovakia. I am working hard to try and take a January course/start in Feb, but I may need an extra month to earn $ and get other things done here ----meaning I may need to wait until Feb course to start teaching in March.

Might waiting to take the course in Feb / starting in March limit the # of job opportunities? Or is March still an ok time to find work? I believe I heard semesters start up again in Feb, so worry that most positions will be filled by March (unless I contact them right away when I start my course and can work something out to hold a place until March).

I am hoping for Kosice or E Slovakia and any tips, such as schools to look at or avoid when I'm over there is also appreciated.

Hello again!
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find out much info on Slovakia ahead of time. So it appears, I'll just have to take my course and see if I can get a job there after class. If not, I'll certainly look at staying in Czech Republic (as long as Schengen doesn't mess that up too!) But I understand Slovakia is similar to Czech, so either way any input will help.

Are there still good opportunities to get jobs in CR March? I thought I heard that school starts up again the end of Jan/beginning of Feb - so it seems January course is the best. However, I may need the extra month to take care of some matters here and earn a little more $. But I don't want to wait if it means shutting the door on a lot of opportunities.

Generally speaking, if you hustle a bit, you should probably be able to scare up some work. But March isn't optimal. Conracts run Sept - June, and trying to find something for just four months isn't the simplest. Make sure you've got enough financial backup to get through with sketchy income until Sept/Oct.

Sounds tough, but it's the reality.
