Hi -- My question is basically the question in the thread. I may want to go back to the States next year after one more year in Asia. But because of the logistics of when I would need to be back in the States, I may not be able to work another entire year here. More like 10 or 11 months. Anyone know where one can get a job on those terms, without just running out on an employer? Thanks .... Mep |

If you're not so picky and don't mind the political problems of organizations, you could work for Nova in Japan next year. They know their turnover is high, and you can be honest with them.
If you are under--40 I think is the cutoff--you qualify for a working holiday visa in japan, which you can obtain before you even go.
there are a million complaints about nova, by the way. my girlfriend worked for them for about 8 months, and she wasn't a trained teacher. it made her feel good that they had a method she could follow, and she enjoyed friendly conversations with her students. they've had union problems as well, but, i'm pretty sure they'll pay you for your hours at least. |

Going back to the States probably means mep3 is American. Americans don't qualify for working holiday visas.
I don't know if you are aware, glasshouses, of the huge legal problems that NOVA is in right now, so that is not exactly a "picky" situation to advise someone to take. There are much better opportunities. My question to mep is, where are you now, and can you come here to do the interviews? You are likely NOT going to get hired for Japan if you are in Asia. |

thanks, you're right on the latter. last night, we were watching nhk in singapore and there was a story about nova. i knew they were having staffing problems, but i didn't know that they were having legal problems with their clients as well. |
