OK, for those of you that read my post about being bent over by a school near Taipei (http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=53395&highlight=julie+teng), I have a serious development I'd like your input on.
My resident visa, provided by the school described in the above link) has expired. Yeah! I am now officially illegal.
The schools I am dealing with now say it's no big deal - they will simply apply for a new work visa.
When they get that I will fly to Hong Kong and pick up another Resident visa and probably pay a 5000NT fine.
After that, they will complete the process by getting an arc and a health card.
Does this sound reasonable, even truthful, to everyone else? For some reason I've had butterflies over this mess for the last few days.
The Resident visa expired about three weeks ago. Between trying to secure a place to live and working sub positions - finances have been tight and I don't think I can afford Hong Kong for at least another month.
Gulp.
What does everyone else think? |
