Right now I'd have to go with #1. I also think the other 10 profs I work with in our English Dept. at this university feel the same.
We are given a great deal of freedom as to how we teach English as long as it falls within the realm of the communacative approach. There are no "big brothers" looking over our shoulders...I hope.
We are also happy campers because of the $$$ we are making at the moment. I'm certain it's more than most in this region, but it "don't" come easy.
Yeah, I'd have to go with #1 ...for now.
Who was it that said "famous last words?"
Salutations from "the jungle." |

I am only a newbie - having been at this School in Jiangsu province for 3 months but I envy all you young people with the qualifications and years ahead of you to teach.
I spent the last 25 years of my life in the one office with the same Boss and he took me for granted for the last 10 years of that time.
Believe me when I say that teaching these young children in China to enjoy learning English and how to pronounce the words correctly is the most wonderful thing I have ever done. I just wish that I had started doing this years ago instead of putting up with an ungrateful boss and a very stressful job in Australia.
I admit that I got lucky with my School. Nobody has ever told me how to teach and what to teach (and in fact maybe they should have in the beginning) and I set my own classes and have had no criticism to date.
I think it is a wonderful life over here and and no intention of returning to Australia in the future. |
