Been offered a job in Fuqing.

It's all legit, my employer is happy to begin my application for a work visa.

The pay is good, 5500 for 15-20 hours.

I just want to know if Fuqing is OK to live in. Some say the people are wild and there is crime and so on.

But I personally really don't know anything about Fuqing, if anyone does please tell me what you can about the city.

According to www.answers.com/topic/fuqing

Quote:
Fuqing
Fuqing (Chinese: 福清; pinyin: Fqīng) is a county-level city of Fuzhou in Fujian, China. It is located in the eastern part of the province, just southeast of Fuzhou and borders the East China Sea.

Fuqing, as well as much of Fujian, is known for the large number of its people who travel, both legally and illegally, overseas to find work. The most common destination is Japan, with others going to Australia, Canada, and the United States. Fuqing has its own dialect which is related to the one spoken in Fuzhou, although the two are not completely mutually intelligible. Most of its people can also speak Mandarin, which is used in schools, businesses, and to communicate with others from different parts of the province. Fuqing county has approximately 1.3 million inhabitants.

Thanks tw.

But I've already read that from wikipedia.

I heard from someone that people in Fuqing swear a lot and a bit crazy.

I hope not!

Swearing a lot? You ought to come to northeastern China. Laughing

A bit crazy? Aren't most of them in China? Laughing

So who is this "someone"? A Chinese immigrant living in your city? That's typical Chinese stereutyping attitude towards people in other cities and provinces. What have you heard about people in Beijing? How about those in northeastern China?

I've heard nothing of people in Beijing or people from NE China.

That someone is a friend I have who lives in Fuzhou, she is a native chinese girl!

Where's Shandong by the way? NE China? Shandong or Shangdong*

It's Shandong as in "mountain east". In simplified Chinese it is 山东 or 山東 in traditional Chinese. It is considered a part of northern China, though people in northeastern China would beg to differ.

Most famous Shandong city to teach in is definitely Qingdao.
