I responded to an add from Anhui uni. Recently posted. Got an immediate reply that Anhui U. didn't need me, but that she (the FAO) had a friend at another school that was looking for a foreign teacher.
Sounded like maybe the FAO was doing a little recruiting business on the side on company time. If so, well I can't deny her genius in the Chinese market. But has anyone else run into this? |

A valid point that I have found to be true: if you are a FAO, you are the ideal go-between who knows where foreign nationals are most needed, and you are most likely the only person in office who can contact and communicate with an English speaker. A little musing, pondering and philosophising - and voila: a treasure trove, a fountain of cash, a goldmine: pluck foreign teachers from websites where they post their CV's, and peddle them to would-be employers - who have to fork out a few thousand kuai for this service!
And they do pay! |
