Well, it's been a hell of a year. I'll still be around for the following year and look forward to it in some ways, but I feel trepidation and unease in other ways. Teaching and working for an educational institution like Sohar College has not been easy by any standard. The College is beset by all sorts of systemic problems and both the atmosphere and morale have reached rock bottom on several occasions, with firings, recriminations, abuses, vulgar language, back-stabbings, cruel rumours and character assassination, slander, physical violence and resignations left, right and center. I really really hope next year will prove more fruitful for all and we can put the past behind us. We can only hope that the Ministry has finally seen sense and heard the pleas of the majority of teachers for a new HOD.

To my fellow teachers and admin staff at the College. Take care! See you all again in September!

Why are you staying for another year if you think it's such a bad place?

The same can be said for Salalah College too! CfBT is part of the problem, and hiring teachers with only BAs who seem to lack a sense of professionalism and treat the workplace like a high school setting.

But I'm not staying.... long story. I'm moving on to a lesser paid, but real teaching situation with 95% less stress.

Archangel,

I think if you take a poll around all the other MoHE colleges, you will hear the same or similar comments.

We here in Salalah join you in wishing all English Instructors a better 07/08 Academic year.

I am not going to invoke the usual Arabic invective, just we will wait and see.

We will be here if you will be there.

Duffy Very Happy Very Happy
