On another forum it says Nova is going to close.
It says that if they close there is going to be a lot of teachers walking around in Japan without money begging for food and money to get back to their foreign lands.
It also says that all these goijins are going to try to become ALTs and drive the wages down to 150.000 yen for a full time ALT job.
Is this good or bad?
I don't really mind because I get paid 278.000 yen a month. |

Sarcastic reply coming...
yes, NOVA is going to close, and the plutoxin virus is fatal within 24 hours.
Real answer. Probably not. The "threat" of closing has been hovering over places like NOVA for at least a decade. What people fail to realize is that NOVA is the biggest chain eikaiwa in Japan, and it is only a side business of a loan company. A LOAN company. Do you really think a company that deals in LOANS would let a side business crumble? Nope.
Why would teachers making at least 250,000 yen/hour WANT TO drive the wages down almost 50% (to below subsistence wages, by the way) by becoming ALTs? Answer: you've been reading rumor mills based on trolls. |

I think all the "goijins" at NOVA will be fine in the near future. Many have avoided Sekiguchi successfully. |

The hotel they conducted my interview in two weeks ago was rather nice and at least a little pricey for a company that's supposedly on the verge of bankruptcy. I paid $175 for my room. I'm not saying they couldn't have found a more expensive place, but I couldn't help thinking they could've gone somewhere a lot cheaper and less posh. Mind you, they needed a place with a conference room to hold the session in, but still, they could've done that at a Best Western; not some place with the word "Suites" in the name. |

Nova is an outstanding company to work for! Probably the best job I ever had! Yes many companies have problems and so does Nova but they will overcome these minor problems! Anyone hired by Nova please be confident and feel secure that you will soon be working for a good company! |

You have just spent about 20.000 yen probably two days wage getting hired at a company that is probably going to be closed in 6 months.
And big johns stud I aree with you Nova is the best company out there Its fun to work there and the best thing is that the women working at the Shinjuku headquaters who do orientation are really hot. |

Working at Nova is even better than what Im doing. Making 400.000 yen a month workign at two unis in Thailand. Its better to work 40 hours a week at Nova to make 300.000 even though the cost of a beer in Japan is about 5 times more than Patayya. I mean why would you think of working anywhere else than Nova. |

Wow! That is a lot of money, and the cost of living is so low in Thailand! I am going to gather a bunch of my friends at Nova and we are going to Thailand to get university jobs!
Since the cost of living in Japan is so expensive and so cheap in Thailand, I think all English teachers should consider coming with us to Thailand |

Japan is fun but too expensive! The money Tigerwood is making is unbelievablly great! The price of living is very low in Thailand and with that kind of salary I would be able to save thousands of pounds within a year! Since I have a master's degree maybe I can get both his jobs if I can't find anything better! |

I read that the travel group HIS may help Nova financially.
If so, Nova isn't going anywhere. |

Oh I know Nova is not going anywhere. Roomers of them going out of business has been hovering over them since I first came to Japan 15 years ago!
I've been to Thailand before on vacation! The women there are just as hot as Japanese women and the salary Tigerwood is getting is just way too good! Ironically I got a group discount from HIS and gave notice to Nova! |
