Taiwan has more 7/11's than any country in the world. Just bring money that your going to have on your person while you are traveling here, and keep the rest in your Canadian account.

They actually don't have more 7-11's than anywhere in the world.... but it's got to be close! They must have the highest concentration of 7-11's though. Actually, they DO have the highest concentration, but Japan has the most locations.

Here is a little informational link from wikipedia on 7-11: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_11

And just to make sure I stay on target for the threads topic: I agree with Wally, no need to bring traveler's checks. ATM cards are easier, more convenient and you will get just as good an exchange rate (if not better).
As you see from the link, 7-11s are everywhere!

The most 7/11's per person! Thats what it was...something didnt quite feel right when I typed that, but I hadn't had my coffee yet to bother fact checking! Wink

One 7/11 for every 6200 people....and then this doesn't include the Family Marts or the Hi-Life stores...when someone says a convenience store on every corner, its not an exaggeration here at all.

Are there any good websites or places to suggest meeting other foreigners for activities like hiking, meditation or dance groups?

I've been busy working and haven't had the chance to go out clubbing or to the bars. Any tips?

I live near Tung Hai university and don't have a scooter which is a draw back.
