Has anyone tried to exit through the airport on an overstayed tourist visa and paid the fine?
I am curious, how much was it? was it a $$charge for the number of days overstayed ?
cheers

As far as I've been made to understand you don't get into trouble at the airport with an overstayed visa, just at the land border stations. Not sure why, but that's the word on the ESL streets. :) |

yes, thats true, the people at the airport very rarely check the date stamps and so you just go through with no problema.
But im still curious. There is an office in the corner and many people are entering it and paying their overdue fine, i take it, voluntarily. Id like to know what that fine is..........
thanks

I read somewhere last nite (website for an English school I was checking out, I forget which it was now...) that when ppl overstay their visas for an extra 3 months or so, the fine's btw $45-$65. Maybe they understated it a little to be as attrative as possible to potential teachers, i don't know... hopefully this is a good ballpark figure. |
