Have schools simply given up on looking for FT's themselves?

Absolutely, Kurochan! The quality of some schools' English web pages is abysmal. Why? Because none of the Chinese staff write English well enough to compose proper ads, and they won't pay the FTs to take on the task.

Well, one main reason I made this post is that I know my current school needs a LOT of new FT's for the next school year. Yet, I haven't seen any ads from them nor from any recruiters

We are also in the same boat as TW, Kurochan, and others I think. I did see one ad here at Dave's a while back for my department but, as far as I know, we're still short two teachers. I asked them to run any applicants by me (as I am supposedly the "head teacher" HA!), but I have seen nary a one. *sigh!*

Are they perhaps cutting back on foreign teachers overall, or are they still hiring but just through different channels?

Actually they hope to get MORE FTs than ever before due to new programs.
