Hey, everyone. I will be tutoring students for 3 months and I am looking for a good book for people learning basic English. It would be great if I could find a cd also, so that I could let them listen to the language. Does anyone have experience teaching with a certain book?

Person to Person I II

New Concept English I II III

These are dual Chinese and English and give you some extra lesson creation activities.

Person to Person is for adults and University +

New Concepts is good for kid age groups.

You can find easily in any Chinese book store

If you have access to an English book where you live, check out any of the books of "Foreign Language Publishing Press Beijing". They have some great books for beginners.

Also check out the Longman series by Alexander -- these are older books, but have been republished and personally I think most of them are great for beginniners and adaptable to all age groups.

Thanks a lot, SnoopBot and HunanForeignGuy. I really appreciate your suggestions. I recently bought the book CliffsStudySolver English Grammar.

It's very good for beginners and even for native speakers. It's full of exercises and practical information.

Hi Pardue,
I am teaching 3 students at the moment .
I don't use a book but put together my own materials.
My favourite esl website is bogglesworld, great role plays, check it out.
New interchange is good. It has CDs, VCDs and a workbook.
