Inaka, baby. Totally inaka.
All right.

Nah, that's just a suburb. |
Hee hee. A suburb that's a loooooooooooong way from the city center of Hamamatsu...or Toyahashi for that matter.
I guess I could look at it as suburban living.

Yeah. I have no idea how to get rid of so much of my stuff. Not room in my parents house, and I always feel bad if I take perectly good things to the dump. But I may have no choice with some of this stuff.
I was ready to go mentally about two months ago, but in terms of getting all the things done that need to be done- I'm nowhere close to ready. |
I hear thee. I am here at my mother's house in Ohio for the weekend and I have left a few boxes with her. But I just TOTALLY moved out of her house last summer so I don't want to innundate her with my personal effects.
Yeah, I am using this as a moment to evaluate what I want, what I need, what I want to ditch and then find appropriate places for it.
Being in New York City, I am going to leave some things on the curb for others to take, try out freecycle, give some away to new teachers moving to the City.... I, too, don't mind giving things away but don't want to just unnecessarily trash things.
But in the end, we will take care of things accordingly and be ready for Japan.
Mothy, are you in Group A or B?

Looks like I will be joining king and fat_chris in Shizuoka-ken, although I have not been contacted by my CO. I will be leaving with Group C. According to my local coordinator, I will most likely be a ken JET, and most likely be in or close to the capital, but that is not a sure thing.
Anyway, I'm excited, and happy with the (general) placement. |

natsume,
Congratulations on your placement! Best of luck to you in your preparations!
Doesn't being named a -ken JET only mean that you will be working in a high school (provided that you are coming as an ALT)?
I was designated as a -ken JET and waited some time to hear from my CO. Eventually I did. It is located in a small village in Western Shizuoka near the Aichi prefectural border. I am pleased about this placement for my first year in Japan.
Welcome to the Shiz!

Hi There,
How are you liking Fuji City? I'm applying for the JET program and was just doing a search on this forum for surfing in Japan and this post came up? I know you can put a preference of where you'd like to go and I'd really like to be near a coast for surfing. May I ask, did you find the paper factory to emit too much of an odor?
thanks so much
