|
|
Generally speaking, what are the requirements for University gigs in Europe? What is the average contract like? I understand there may be some variation betwixt countries, so if you only have information for your country that would be fine. Maybe combined I can get a general feel for the climate. Btw, I'm a dual citizen (US/Italy) so work aren't an issue. I appreciate the information you may give. Thank you in advance. Cheers! |

Europe ? Depends where ! Latvia, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Denmark
All different. You have to zero in on one country or area. Refine your question ! |

Speaking very generally, to answer your very general question, MA in TESL/TEFL, applied linguistics, or something else closely related. Plus significant experience. Plus local language skills of functional or better. Plus local contacts.
Openings at Unis aren't thick on the ground. Finding one often requires some prior commitment of time to the area. |

...............and a modicum of cultural sensitivity. Maybe you can still develop that. |

If "work aren't an issue", I would suggest improving your grammar in addition to developing the aforementioned cultural sensitivity. |

Um, perhaps you didn't thoroughly read my post, wherein I wrote - I understand there may be some variation betwixt countries, so if you only have information for your country that would be fine. Maybe combined I can get a general feel for the climate.
Thanks for the replies, though. Appreciated. |

A Master and two to five years of work experience. THey might also require you to have a work visa or permission to work in the country. |

Sorry, I meant that you would need a work visa if you didn't have a passport from an EU country. |

Yes, you did say that in your original post. So, the issues that I raised are still relevant, regarding commitment to an area, quals, and stuff. But you're certainly legally eligible. |

Is there any good sites for finding university jobs in Europe? I seem to find just language schools jobs. Maybe it's not the right time to be looking for university teaching jobs? I am doing my MA in TESOL/TEFL now and want to work in a university (Austria, Ireland, Swizterland are our perfered choices) in a couple of years. I'm from Ireland and have been teaching in Korea now three years. Any advice? |
