Hello- I have just accepted an Elementary teaching position in Prague- starting at the end of August. I will be looking for a flat share for August- June 2008.

I am a 30 year old woman, nonsmoker, clean, quiet...I like to socialize and have fun- but see home as a more "calm" environment. I will be looking for another female to share with..

Send a message if any interest!
Thanks....
Shannon

Hello!

I am also working at an elementary school in Prague starting September-late June.

I am looking for an apartment to share starting September 1st.

Do you already have an apartment in Prague and wanting a roomate?

No, sorry if that was misleading. I am still in the States and trying to look for places from here. I am planning to be there at the end of August. Where are you teaching in the fall?

I'm trying to get a job in Prague. How easy is it to find a place to live in Prague, and on average what's the rent like?

The only thing I'm worried about going overseas is finding a place to live, nothing else bothers me.

It's best, in general, to find a place for one month or so from abroad, and then do a flat-search when you're here.
Rents can range from 6,000kc/monthly to three times that, depending on your willingness to flat-share. Rent is a significant chunk of salaries, as much as half, unfortunately.
It's not so easy to find places, particularly from outside.

The route most newbies in Prague take is to take a certification course in the city and then use the contacts they make on the course to help guide them in finding work contracts. Both employers and cert course providers can help considerably in terms of finding accomodations.

The best place to look for roommates is expats.cz. You'll get a lot more replies and good info there.
