New teacher here, about to head off to Japan in a couple of months!
I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether there are amateur soccer leagues around the Nagoya/Ichinomiya/Gifu region. Or, more generally, what's recreational soccer like in Japan (as compared to, say, Canada)? Are the leagues prefecture-wide/city-wide/nation-wide/etc.? Are they divvied up into different tiers for different skill levels?
Oh, and does anyone know how to say 'soccer' in Japanese?
Thanks guys!
Cheers,
Dan |

In the same token, anyone know of any rowing crews around the Osaka area? Are there any "club" or recreational crew teams? |

Don't know of any rowing clubs but join any gym and they usually have footsol courts where you can play. Sad thing is, they often actually tennis courts doubling as footsol areas. Guess what, gyms tend to have more tennis classes ($) than scheduled soccer sessions. My gym only had footsol available for 2 nights a week.
If you have dreams of running on a beautiful green pitch, slide tackling without losing half your leg or making a spectacular diving save without dislocating your shoulder...give them up now. |

How expsensive is billiards? I'm debating whether or not to bring my cue, but I'll take a year off if it is 500 yen a rack. |

Thanks for the replies! The Nagoya FC sounds awesome, actually.
And yes, I do dream of green pitches and vicious slide tackles, so I'll have to try hard to find a team near me (like Nagoya FC).
Thanks guys! |
