I'l go out on a limb and suggest that this is indeed worth ending a marriage over. And that if it's worth saving, that she's the one who has to move her buns and fast. Clock is ticking.

What happen to the guy sitting down with his wife and explaining that he is not going to work for this unbelievably low offer. It seems that he just taken a few comments from here and decided to end the marriage. Shocked

You beat me to it. After agreeing to work for a fixed amount, the OP may have very little room to negotiate a higher salary. But for a wife to take the company's side over her husband's in such a dispute would make me seriously question her loyalty. There may be more to the story, but in my view that could easily be the straw that broke the relationship.

The OP seems to have abandoned this thread. Maybe it would be a good idea if the rest of us do likewise. Discussing someone's personal problems -- even if the OP opened the door -- doesn't really help anyone with their professional development or questions about teaching.
