I'm not questioning your qualifications as an RN or a teacher. And as I've said, I have never claimed to have any medical expertise, so no, I cannot sign RN after my name, nor am I ashamed that I cannot! No need to belittle me because I have chosen teaching, not nursing, as a career. (And no need to brag about your own qualifications either!) What I do question are your two posts earlier in this thread claiming that any advice given by TEACHERS about TEACHING CONDITIONS, specifically how much writing would be involved in a job (which teachers would know more about than doctors), would be useless.

I completely agree that the OP should seek medical advice. Just not here. This is a place for teaching advice. Do you disagree?

To summarize: a doctor or RN can give the OP a prognosis. A teacher can tell the OP what will be expected at work in terms of writing.

Would you seriously ask an RN how much writing you might be expected to do at your next teaching job?

When a patient presents with a repetitive stress disease from work (such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) you may be confidently assured that he has been through loads of advice from his colleagues.....none of which is worth a tinker's dam or he wouldn't seek medical help.

Your assertion that the OP should seek advice from other teachers is simply fatuous nonsense. I don't mean to be inflammatory, but we are dealing here with people's health and my respect for the hallowed profession of teaching stops well short of that. If that offends your self-image, let me know and I will give you a chit to go see the chaplain.

Tne guy wasn't asking for advice about carpal tunnel syndrome. He was asking how much typing was involved in teaching EFL in Japan.

It was pointed out that he should be able to do all preparation using commercially available Voice Recognition Software (which is how computer programmers stay employed after they have developed carpal tunnel) but that writing and drawing on the board would be necessary

That is not medical advice, and it is not information a medical practioner would necessarily have.
