What documents does everyone have to produce when applying for an RPF RENEWAL (not getting one for the first time)? I'd just like to see if this, too, changes from place to place.
For me it's always been:
1: School's certificate of...uh...being a school
2: School's certificate giving them permission to hire foreigners
3: Letter from school describing my relationship to them (or copy of contract)
4: Copies of my FEC
5: Copies of my passport
6: Application
7: Fee

| Under the Guangdong rules, all of the above, plus the two photos, plus your CV / resume plus (maybe you mentioned it) a current letter of recommendation / letter of release. |

Is the process that drawn out for the above posters when simply renewing your RPF with your current employer?
I've been at the same factory for five semesters: about a month before RPF expiry, I sign next year's contract. Couple of weeks later, the floor manager takes my passport and FEC for their readjustments, and about two weeks after that everything is returned. No forms, no fees, no photos. |

Resume and release letter for for your residence permit? ( I'd guess some might not know RPF), or your foreign expert certificate?
RPF school does, and pays for; two photos for the application, the application, and the FEC. If I was doing it myself, I would also need the school's certification. I know in Zhengzhou, if it is a Chinese person from the school, they don't need the school's certification
The FEC is done at the spot usually, just a new date and stamp. RP usually 3-4 day wait.
Copy of passport?You must give them the passport so they can put the sticker in it with your valid residence dates, yes?
This year I had to do a new medical for the FEC, first time in years. I don't know if I really need to do this, or the new person in the waishiban office didn't really understand

No idea the process if renewing with current employer, but I think it should be simple. I'm switching employers and it has been the worst fracking visa nightmare I've ever had in my 3 years in country.

Dear Arioch36,
I feel terrible for you. Obviously the new person in the FAO was not up-to-speed. You evidently were renewing your contract and staying at the same school -- were you not? Under the current rules, you are absolutely not required to be retested. He or she simpy does not know what they are doing. Your renewal should have been the easiest thing in the world -- even if you had not been staying at the same school but had remained within the same province, your renewal should have been completely fraught-free so to speak. This happened to a colleague of mine who changed schools but remained in the same province. He was too timid to say anything so he went for the test again.
The Foreign Affairs Officers are not God and they are surely fallible. If you suspect they are doing something incorrectly, by all means hold your ground.

who pays for your document renewals? you or you school? I pay for mine out of pocket (though, theoretically, school is supposed to reimburse me but the hoops they make me jump through are so ridiculous that I usually just consider my fee lost). How much do your renewals cost? |

In my previous jobs, the schools paid for the paperwork.
In the current job, I pay for the paperwork..but my salary is 3.5 x my previous salary so it doesn't matter at all and the working conditions are much better. |

Typically 800 RMB for one year, 400 RMB for less than one year.
The school should pay for the cost unless otherwise specified by your contract. |

I paid 400 RMB to have my RPF extended in Changchun for two months.
My new employer, though never saying anything in the contract, says I have to pay for my new RPF (800 RMB). When I told them that it should be the school paying for it without mention ing that it was not mentioned in the contract (or maybe it was but I just never saw it), they said it was the school's policy. However, they've been nice enough to try to help me save 400 RMB. They will wait until late August when they return to work before applying for one that will be less than a year long since my current RPF doesn't expire until Setptember 4.
As for RPF extension, you just need to give your FAO 400 RMB and a photo.
