Hello everybody, I'd like to invite you all to our new weekly lingobongo international night in Madrid, every Wednesday, from 8pm to 1am, and it's at "Rocket Bar", 21, calle Larra, metro Bilbao/Tribunal.
We have managed to work out a deal to get really cheap drinks from the bar.
Basically the idea is to get all the people from our website along (teachers and students, all around the 20-35 age bracket) to have a social night, maybe do a bit of intercambio-ing, and generally meet each other.
So please bring yourselves and anybody else you think would like to take part (students, Spanish friends etc.): this is our first social and we really want it to be as big and lively as possible
There are more details on our website, along with a map of where it is: hope to see you all there !

Dear Moore,
As a new potential, single female TESOL teacher to Madrid I was happy but then greatly disappointed to see your announce of a weekly get-together in Madrid stating that it was for 20-35 year olds. Since I am definitely over 35, you have excluded me from your group, so I ask, should I join a knitting club, or is there a club where it is accessable to wheel chairs and canes of old people over 35?
I like to have fun and meet people also. Sorry you have excluded me and others like me from your 'in' group. |

Couldn't agree more! I am also well out of the age group that our friend Moore mentions and were I in Madrid I might like to go along. |

Hello MKR, if it's any comfort, as a 37 year-old I excluded MYSELF from my night! The idea was just to give a rough idea of an age group, nothing more. Thinking about it, it was a dumb idea to put on an age bracket, and a good many people who use our site and come to our events are over that age.
Unreserved apologies to anyone who may have been offended by that.
We have stopped our evenings for the summer, but when we do re-start (in a new English bar/bookshop named "Bacchus" in Moncloa) I hope to see anyone of any age down there and MKR, if you decide to come down, then please tell me who you are and I will buy you a large apology drink |

Apologies accepted Moore, at least on my part. I was curious about the time you posted it. You're either an early Sunday riser or you enjoy the famous Madrid nightlife and check your mail when you finally make it home in the madrugada. |

Hello sheikh radlinrol: I'd love to say I posted on my way back from a long night out, but sadly it was due to being a total idiot when it came to setting my time zone on this forum when I first signed up.
Madrid is definitely a city for those with a lot of stamina in terms of staying up ludicrously late: sometimes I think that these people are just living in the wrong time zone, and somehow imagine that meeting up at 1 am is not in fact very very early the next day as any non-Spaniard might think.
I am happier here than I have been in any of the other countries I've lived and worked in, but I am so permanently tired it's just ridiculous.
"De Madrid al cielo", and possibly sooner than I'd like... |
