Anybody know anything about this school? I was asked to send a resume and photo, and told they are looking for someone immediately. The pay is 8.5 plus airfare.

The member has asked a reasonable question and expects a reasonable answer.

Recent events here indicate that a few members on the Indonesia Forum are apparently incapable or unwilling to act in such a manner.

If this continues, I can absolutely guarantee that responsible parties will be enjoying a very speedy permanent unpaid vacation from this board.

well said Mr Kalgukshi..

hello, again eclectic

I've heard good things about them but I have a friend who has worked for them in Medan..I'll ask him about Worldstar today..he should have a bit of knowledge/gossip about them..8.5 plus bonuses will be a good salary in Pekanbaru..bonuses usually include accomodation, air fare home (or a proportion), and end of year bonus..KITAS and visa are mandatory and are not a 'BONUS' Smile you should have them before you start work.

salam

I understand from a source there that 8.5M is about 2M per month more than EF Pekanbaru's offering. Pekanbaru is a quite liveable little place from what I've seen of it, but be aware that in August/Sept smoke haze will make life uncomfortable.

Thx everyone, Pekan sounds like a great little place. Haze of smoke? From burning rubber trees, clearing land?

I lived in Pekanbaru for a year about 5 years ago.. I was working at the first EF there. I found the city to be HOT, BORING and EXPENSIVE... There was nowhere to go on the weekends except Bukit Tinggi (4 hours plus away, so it had to be a long weekend)...Otherwise stay at home or : ( go out to the very few "clubs"...

One redeeming factor was that there were only a few western people living in the city as most lived in the "extensive" Caltex complex about 20 kilos from the city...

I must admit though it is the only place in Indonesia I was able to play baseball and squash regularly...

Again it was the students that made the stay there not too bad.... but I was happy to leave...

On yes....there was the smoke and alot streets flooding during the rainy season.. a bit difficult on a motorcycle... Oh.. and the power outages were a pain too..

Perhaps it has changed for the better....???

As they say..."To each their own"...
