I really did not meet many Saudis when I lived in the kingdom. The ones I did meet were quite nice.

I don't know how you meet Saudis. It is rare to come across them in daily life. The people who work in the kingdom who would cross your path are not Saudi. I wonder where they all are?

And you would never meet a Saudi of the opposite sex.

Actually there is considerable debate as to which it is.

My favourite story on this comes from the time I met some Imam Saud University students (those who go on to become imams) in a coffee shop in Riyadh. They were on scholarships and came from different Central Asian republics.

One of them complained bitterly about music being forbidden on campus. "They say music is forbidden, but my father is the grand mufti of Kazakhastan and I work part-time as a DJ at weekends.

A similar story was reported about students from one of the Balkan States who was on a scholarship to the University in Medina, where they train imams and religious scholars. He is reported to have said,"I am serious about religion too but every normal person likes to have a beer now and then !"

Islam means
One should practice everything in moderation.
(heehee needless to say, practice moderation in moderation)
It is not what goes into your mouth Islam forbids, but that comes out of your mouth.( action)(after alcohol consumption).
Same rule applies to Music.
You should all know that Arabs/persians are great poets.
But Im not here to protect any arabs, just to share the true meaning of Islam.
I have never heard of complaints regarding Buddhist/HinduJewish/ christian religious practice.

Hold on, did you just come here and say that alcohol is not forbidden in Islam???

Why do some people insist on talking about things they have absolutely no clue about?

Except that, some things are forbidden, and if something is forbidden, how can you practice it in "moderation"? Rolling Eyes

Natto is fermented soy beans. Quite tasty with soy sauce and mustard.

How about tofu? We haven't discussed this in ages. Tell us about tofu consumption in Japan, SusanWW.

The most important is your tongue not your mouth!
The tongue of a believer is at the back of his heart while the heart of a hypocrite is at the back of his tongue.
And I have heard that some people will have their tongue cut in the day of judgement.

There is no definite rules for Music.

^ There are some ahadith saying music is forbidden! There is no point in discussing this here, as scholars are divided on it.

But drinking alcohol???

I still can't believe Susan WW said it is not forbidden in Islam, and that no one called her out on it. And when I called her out on it, she started talking about FERMENTED SOYBEANS.

She has gone cuckoo. I suggest staying away from her lest she infects anybody with her insanity.
