Is a tourist or visitor's visa currently required to enter Hong Kong for short stays (1 -2 weeks)? My passport is U.S. if that matters one way or the other.

Thx .... mep

And in fact, it is work-related, because I will be applying for a Taiwan residency visa (for work) from either Hong Kong or Macau.

US citizens don't require a visa for HKG. Just get your passport stamped on arrival. You could have found that out by a simple search on Google.
