|
|
I have completed an M.A. in TESOL and am thinking waaaaaaaay ahead: after a few years of TEFL, I would consider returning to the States to enroll in a PhD program.
Question 1: How many of you have a PhD or EdD in Applied Linguistics or TESOL or Linguistics?
Question 2: How many of you have a PhD or EdD in a field other than the aforementioned three?
Question 3: What current position at what kind of institution in which location has your doctorate afforded you?
Many thanks!

I have option 2, and it has gotten me a nice stateside university career (twice-tenured full professorships) and a great Senior American Fulbright Scholarship to Ukraine. Now I'm hoping to find a professorship in the NIS, South America or Asia.
Best of Luck. |

Cheers for the response dlarcheuk. Like I said, I am considering the prospects of enrolling into a PhD or EdD program. I also like your idea about a Fulbright grant, and I like the idea of an English Language Fellowship. Lots of opportunities if one plays his cards right.

| I've thought about this option, too. Can anyone here recommend a particular university (or 2) in the U.S.? thanks in advance... |

| I've heard good things about the Applied Linguistics program (rather than the Languages & Literacy program in Education) at UC Davis. I had a wonderful professor from there. I'm considering it myself, long term... |
