What kind of visa are you after? You can get a thirty day landing visa if you have an onward ticket. If you were wanting to stay a little longer you can apply for a sixty day visa with the onward ticket, passport size photos, proof of funds but no degree necessary. This is the one you would want if you were wanting to come to stay and work. Remember you are here to be a tourist, NOT to work.

If you are already here and wanting to get a work visa while being IN Taiwan like your question suggests then you do need your degree, or two year diploma + TESL yada yada yada, health check, etc which should be given to and sorted out by your school in most cases.

Get an onward ticket for more than 31 days after you arrive, then you will almost certainly be given a 60 day visa and like Ki said now is not the time to show them your degree!

I'm curious has anyone ever been turned down for telling the visa office that you're wanting to work? I told them that in the States, since I didn't know at the time. At first, she said I couldn't do that, but after she went and talked to someone about it, she approved it.

I just wanted to make sure that I had the proper documents to change my 60 day visa into a residence visa. I finally got my 60 day visa after some hassle and just wanted to make sure that I have the proper documents for when I arrive in Taiwan.

just make sure you have your ORIGINAL BA Diploma, you'll need 2 photos, $1,000 NT, and your work permit from your school once you get here
