Sigh. I wish I had a credit card and/or means to sighn up for a service like Kazaa Bits and pieces of things can be found online nowadays, but copyright deamons prevail. Kazaa is legal (so I've been told by a webmaster of another board) and comparatively cheap - $40 US for a lifetime. I can handle the price of 2 CDs for a service like that... .

What this means is that what I listen to is a bit limited. I didn't take much with me, and I haven't aquired anything other than a few mp3s and homemade music videos.

But my abolute favorite - if you really, really want to relax is traditional Japanese insturmental stuff. How a nation could have created something as good as a koto, shakuhachi, etc also have created Morning Musume is beyond me... .

A fair chunk of Roger's list, plus
Dead Can Dance
Riley Lee (shakuhachi player)
Loreena McKennit
Secret garden
(American) Indian music
didgeridoo music.
Vangelis
gregorian chants

Wake up music:
Bizet
60' & 70's stuff

Some days music is the only thing that keeps me sane - although if I had to choose, I would read rather than listen to music.

June Tabor is my choice, but not widely shared I suspect. Or else I pick up my tin whistles or flute.

Wolf, any pointers towards available shakuhachi tracks on the net? I really can't afford CDs at the moment.

$40.00 for Kazaa? I don't think so...

I went to download.com and got it for free from there.

Cool

Freaky: Well, I guess we have different money proirities. Seriously, though, I searched download.com and couldn't find any movie files, etc... . $40 once ever doesn't sound like a massive investment.

SueH. Sadly, I've been lazy about locating traditional Japanese stuff. I'll PM you as soon as I find any.
