CTS have been in operation for a couple of years. They mainly operate in HCM but seem to be getting a lot more contracts in the provinces. Quite a bit of work in VT recently.
The two directors are good guys, both teachers and both still teach, hands on. Pay is good, they always have a curriculum and they have some handy local knowledge.
I would think that one could do way worse than CTS in this country. They have been advertising a lot lately, and that is because they are expanding and getting more and more contracts. |

I sent them my resume, dimploma, and photo. They have not replied yet. I am interested in working for them.
How is life in the provinces? |

Jzer, plenty of other reputable well paying schools here. Check out the adverts on this site, Apollo, VUS and ILA all feature. Worth looking at all of them. |

CTS is a good gig regardless of where you would be working at. The current jobs outside of HCMC are just temporary contracts that would allow you to work for big city pay without the expenses that go along with it. You might have a hard time getting any one to get back with you if you are not in the country though. Just a simple fact that teachers that are already here get the gigs first. You would have much better luck if you would just call them directly or stop into the office. It also gets you into a more corporate atmosphere. I worked for them myself and a majority of the time I spent with oil companies, BP Oil for example. Low end used to pay 15$/hr and goes up depending on the clients. I make more money now teaching computers and for overseas studies programs or else I would probably look into the job again.
As far as Apollo, VUS, and ILA... they wouldn't be my first choices if anyone has any experience in the classroom. Each has a few drawbacks (monopolized nightime and weekend hours in addition to pay generally lower than 15$ for example) when it comes to what an experienced teacher is worth, although Apollo would be the better of the 3. There are enough reviews across the net to base an opinion of whether to work for them or not. The schools that do pay to advertise across the net are the chain (read 'chain you') schools and there is a lot better options once you look around a bit.
CTS advertising a lot now is due to expanded contracts and I have already recommended 3 people to head over directly that were interested in the Vung Tau position. |

lizarddoctor,
I am in the U.S. so I cannot go to them directly. I would call them but I don't think that I can get hired because I don't have a CELT or TEFL. If I can get hired without a certificate I will call them Monday morning. I would be very interested in working in Vietnam. |

Yo Lizard,
I am also currently in the USA. I understand it is best to be there locally to check it out before signing my life away for the duration of the contract.. LOL
Nevertheless, I would like to find out specifically what they are offering before taking the trip.
Also, I am curious to know how rapidly VN is developing these days. Last time I was there was a few years ago and it seemed less developed than Thailand. I am under the assumption since the US re-opened trade the economy is getting a boost?, but how much of a boost?? |
