This hypothetical question got posed at a bar recently...
If someone's working on an F or L visa, how does that affect the validity of their contract? Can the employer or the employee really make one or the other do anything? What if one decides to terminate the deal? Can either side try to get the other to pay penalties?
I was at a loss for the answer. Hopefully some of you vets can help. |

I'd say you are highly illegal, and subject to deportation or worse.
Someone is hypothetically using you. Get out of there, and find a reputable employer. |

...and I would add that the naivety of the poster beats me! Penalty? You can't get your employer to cough up any "penalty" money TO YOU even if they are in breach of any regulation.
Now if BOTH OF YOU are breaking the law (or the laws_, then who is in the worse position??? |
