Let me say from the word go that I am not looking for a teaching job...at least not yet. I was wondering if anyone, especially some of the teachers in Malaysia (or Thailand) know if it is possible to find other work, preferably non-skilled. What I had in mind was working at a resort or hotel, for example. Not that I want to spend much time at such places, but it's all I can think of.
Any ideas?
Thanks. |

Getting a position probably wouldn't be hard, but breaking through the local payscale may not be so easy. |

Thanks for the quick response.
I should also have stated that I plan on living quite frugally and don't have much of a desire to pack away a lot of savings, either.
I'm looking to do a lot of traveling, so would prefer someplace with decent access to other places. (I'm thinking Phuket, KL).
Any idea where to start looking? I have no contacts, so all I've done so far is cold-called (emailed) some places and said "Hey, I'm looking for work." |

I'm not sure how helpful this site will be, but the actual Star newpaper has loads of jobs.

I got a good deal on my apartment from the newspaper below.

Penang and Langkawi both have international airports and are more likely to have what you're looking for than KL. |

I'd like to add that I just signed up for Celebrity Fitness and the manager and an aerobics instructor are both Western dudes. |

Thanks for the replies - you've been really helpful. I'm gonna start looking and maybe I'll get lucky. Plan B is to show up and try from there.... |
