Hello,

I'm interested in teaching in Japan and I wanted to ask if anyone is familar with this company "Internships International," http://rtpnet.org/~intintl/. They have a short-term program in Japan to teach English where I would have to pay $500, but they'll cover round trip airfare, lodging and meals. Has anyone ever participated in a program through them?

Or, which program is most recommended: JET, NOVA, Westgate, etc? Any input at all or recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks so very much. :)

Riri6, I had a look at that one. It doesn't specify how long the internship is. Perhaps you've determined that? I would expect they could only provide homestay and such for a week or two. It would be valuable experience.

Some universities do internship programs with Japanese institutions and companies. In Canada, Simon Fraser University has a co-op learning program which sends English majors to work for Peppy Kids Club, a children's English activity franchise. Maybe ask at your uni about exchange opportunities, bursaries or the like which would get you a short internship in Japan.

Here's one like the program to which you provided a link (same one?)

Nova and Westgate are not "programs". They are companies. IBM and GE (or perhaps Enron and Amway would a better comparison?) are not programs either.

Why is this so difficult for people to get?!

G Cthulu is right, if a bit caustic. JET is a program, administered by an organization called CLAIR. Eikaiwas are corporations.

Read the thread http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=55298 where we've been talking about JET vs. Eikaiwas.

Be sure to read the sticky posts, especially http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=49577 to start your research about JET and eikaiwas.
