And is it safe to take buses in between these cities? |

We like to help out new teachers here, so I'm going to not answer your question but give you advice that will answer it and many many many more questions.
Go down to your local bookstore and buy yourself a copy of a Mexico Guide Book. I'm a Lonely Planet girl myself, but that's partly due to my age. Lonely Planet has it's faults, and others swear by other books. What ever you do, don't come to Mexico without some guide book in your hands.

Hmmm...can't decide if I should tell junkyak what he/she wants to know or keep with Melee's theme of developing self-sufficiency. I'm a Lonely Planet girl too, but if I have enough space I always bring another guidebook because sometimes it is good to have two different points of view.
junkyak, since you've been doing lots of posting over on LP's TT forum too, presumably you know by now that you can look up bus schedules on the internet. Time depends on which class of bus you take. Deluxe/Premier is more expensive, but much faster and more comfortable. If you take a second class bus (and sometimes even first class), you'll go "pueblando" which will take significantly longer. Yes, it is safe. |

Happy Trails, |
I've found the Rough Guides quite good, with lots of useful information about the history and culture of the country along with practical travel tips. |
