Does anyone know anything about this college? Ran a search of the forums and came up with nothing. Any info appreciated-- thanks! |

Here is their web site: http://www.ace.ac.ae/
"ACE is proud to announce the launch of its operations at its salubrious campus in Dubai Academic City."
Odd choice of adjectives...seems to smack of another Indian-run local sponsor. They also use the British "whilst" which suggests a dearth of Americans--nothing wrong with that, unless one is wondering how "American" this new college really is.
Anyway, they are accepting online applications in many fields including EFL.
They say their plan for now is to offer two-year associate's degrees. |

| And like all other educational establishments the site is full of the usual jargon and has the obligatory mission statement, vision statement, core values and goals and objectives which seem to be very similar for all institutions. A lot of the content pages are 'under construction' so you don't learn much about the place. |

The website is nothing if not pitiful. All puff piece jargon, and little of any practical use in answering who or what they are. I didn't notice that they trumpeted ties to any American educational institution, so that suggests that there are none - assuming that I didn't just miss that page. I had trouble finding a page with much information at all. Nowhere could I find a list of the administration or faculty assuming that they have any.
The most interesting part of the site was the academic schedule. They are not doing semesters but short sessions. The first one - they meet for a week or so... have Eid... come back for a week or so and have mid-terms... after another week or so there are finals. They say that a 500 TOEFL or 5 IELTS is required to start the academic programs, so it looks as if it is merely test cramming... doesn't appear to be much actual teaching.
Is anyone familiar with "Dubai Education City?" Is there much else out there yet? There has been little or no buzz here.

| Thanks for the assessment. My current employer here in Muscat has heard of them, but doesn't know anything except that they are new. |

And "new" is not exactly a good thing in terms of taking a job with a place.

| Well, after having interviewed with them they seem promising. There seems to be a lot of genuine concern for the students, as well as the teachers. We'll see if anything comes of it. |
