Pregunta:

I would like to ship a small box down to Costa Rica, and it's critical that I ship it via truck and/or boat as it is film, and thus very susceptible to contamination by los rayos equis (which probably means no airplanes).

Would anyone happen to be familiar with a particular courier or other sort of (reliable!) shipping solution that I can employ? Since I will not have a permanent address, to what sort of place can I ship it?

My thanks in advance if anyone has any suggestions, you will be helping me to make lots of beautiful photographs!

Thomas

FedEx?

If you feel like it, you can ship it to my school in my name and I'll hand it over to you whenever you arrive in Costa Rica, but I realize that you might not feel very comfortable with that option. I'm sure any courier service will be able to keep it in storage for you for a while.

This is a great question and one that I've been meaning to ask. My wife is especially curious how we will be able to receive packages from our family/friends in the U.S. I have looked briefly at shipping rates via FedEx, DHL, etc. and it looked pricey. I have heard of Florida-based companies that allow you to use a regular (U.S.) P.O Box address that then get your packages to Costa Rica. Anyone got any experiences and/or advice?

I've been using Aerocasillas for years without any problems. They have offices mainly in San Jose but there are a few outside the metropolitan area. Here is the link. http://www.aeropost.com/Main.htm
