I am thinking of applying to the PNET scheme. When would I approximately have to go to Hong Kong next year if I was accepted?

A trawl through the posts here should answer your question..... the answer, unfortunately, is 'how long is a piece of string?' or 'whenever the EdB and the schools get around to doing something'.
God luck.

we applied in JAN 2007, and got accepted and passed all the interview process but still waiting for a school to pick, i think its all depend on luck and what the schools are looking for.

you should go for it and see what happens.

good luck.

"valantino338", with all due respect, may I ask you where you are from?

Thank you, and good luck with the NET scheme recruitment process.

regards-

JZer,

I applied at the end of January. I had my interview in early-mid April. I was informed that I had passed the interview in May. The EDB process my documents for qualification assessment in late may to mid-June. I was informed in late June-early July that they were sending my file around to the different schools. I had multiple interviews between July and early August. I accepted an offer from one of the schools in later July-early August. August was spent filing more paperwork with EDB and getting all of the necessary documents for immigration. My school wants me to report mid-Sept. I informed my other employer that I was to leave after a month's notice (notified them in early august). Now the EDB has mid Oct. listed as my official start date because it "may" take that long to change my visa sponsor. When I changed sponsors last year it only took 2 weeks. I told the EDB about this and they said that they will talk to immigration to make it as soon as possible since they know that both the school and I are in agreement that we are ok to start now if possible.

To make a long answer short, please allow me to put it to you in the words of a former African Politics professor from my days at uni. Whilst waiting for a bus in Malawi, he noticed that there was not a bus time schedule. He turned and asked a young local man beside him, "What time does the bus arrive?" The young man smiled and replied, "Any time from now."

If you are seriously interested in applying for the EDB's NET program then you seriously must be prepared to wait "any time from now."

Edstaff in Australia are once again advertising for NETs for the HK NET scheme, with start dates between January and August next year.

Edstaff are pathetic. They lost all my certified photocopied documents.I contacted them again when they re-advertised on Seek.com;last week infact. When I asked them if I was still on file they said I would have to re-send documents to them again.

I won't bother with the unco-ordinated lot that they are. They are just another bunch of recruiters who are after other people's money.I am applying directly to the EDB,the horse has all the answers.

I had a little chuckle at that one. The thing is that Hong Kong is typically portrayed as a First World, developed state and, although this is obviously just self-serving propaganda, for reasons unknown to me, many people actually seem to get lulled in by this veneer of Western sophistication and tend to forget that it is still ultimately Asia, and so is essentially chaotic, as evinced for example by institutions such as the Immigration Department, the Police Force, the EDB, the Housing Authority, and so on and so forth.

I'm glad that you finally admit that Hong Kong is not a "First World" society.

Cool

Its about as First World as NYC, from that description. Chaotic, crappy police force, etc... What on earth is Henry Cowell trying to insinuate there? Could it be a UFO, or was it something different, Henry?
