If you have worked in a GCC country Like UAE and have unpaid - even if they are illegitimate - bills, can you be held responsible in KSA?
How close are the ties and what are the sources to check? |

What do you mean by illegitimate bills?

Yes and No, it depends on the 'intelligence' of the police and secret services of the two countries!
If they ask you to provide a clearance police certificate, then probably you will be in trouble, especially if your name is in the 'black' list of Uncle Bandar and his associates (GCC police federation).

GCC countries have strong ties concerning security and criminal issues, and I have heard that they have setup a new GCC police federation for this purpose.
so, watch out where you put your feet, especially in KSA, if you were caught, then you only blame yourself.
Pay your outstanding bills, and sleep peacefully! |

Short answer is no...
Unless criminal charges have been made, in which case it could show up in your security clearance check between Gulf countries.

I applied for a loan and while I was given the loan I left the country - My wife was refused a residence permit becasue she had HEP. The when I went to bring her home we went to the hospital and found out she was very very sick and has since died. I never went back to The Emirates. The loan was never accessed and was in the bank last time I checked but after many many emails and phone calls they still say I owe the money and interest and late fees. Stupid and not true. But - Still there is an outstanding debt. That is why I ask. I always pay my bills and have excellent credit. |

Sorry to hear about your wife.
It is hard to guess whether this "loan" will haunt you or not. You may have to just apply to jobs and see if anything comes up from it.

Thanks for the condolences. I also have been exposed but i have taken treatment now and the virus is now undetectable - hard five months but I survived and i am now much more understanding of people with hep. She had apparently gotten it in a blood transfusion TO her father when he was in the hospital (country hospital in Thailand) and he passed just two years previous.
thanks again I will ask for a police check as part of my employment application - so I will know before I arrive and am put into a Saudi prison and beat once a week for the rest of my life.

I suppose that you know that if they detect the Hep in a blood test that will also keep you out of the Gulf. I hear that the treatment is pretty unpleasant, but hopefully the problem is behind you now.
I wouldn't worry about being jailed. The problem would show up before they gave you the visa to get in - or at least it would in the other Gulf countries. KSA is often the exception to the rule... wherever rules exist... A new passport may be a good idea.

If you are referring to hepatitis then the question is which one.
Hepatitis A is curable, but you will test positive for B and C in nearly all cases.
There are jobs where you are allowed to work with Hep C (university lecturer is one of them) but the odds of getting the visa from the embassy in the first place are pretty small. |
